Punk Show June 2024 Newsflash

Nevada County Library Hosts Another Punk Show on June 28th

Grass Valley, CA – The Nevada County Library, Madelyn Helling Branch, is thrilled to announce another punk show on June 28, featuring local favorites Slutzville and Sacramento bands Bury the Body Bag the Head and Divided Youth. This event promises an evening of DIY punk rock that you won’t want to miss.

Event Details

Doors for the show will open at 6:30 p.m., and the music will kick off promptly at 7 p.m. Best of all, this event is completely free and open to all ages. Whether you're a long-time punk fan or just looking for a fun night out, everyone in the community is invited to join in on the excitement. Earplugs will be provided free of charge to attendees.

 Featured Bands

Slutzville is known for their raw, high-energy performances and unapologetic lyrics. With songs like “Get Up and Fight,” “Brought Up,” and “We Consume the Waste We Are,” you’ll be singing along to Nevada County’s finest punk band in no time at all. Bury the Body Bag the Head brings a unique blend of hardcore, thrash metal, and melodic punk. With two screaming guitars, they captivate their audience with sweet riffs while pummeling them with high-intensity energy. Divided Youth plays a style of punk rooted in the American Hardcore scene of the 1980s, making fans of bands like Minor Threat, Bad Brains, or Youth of Today feel right at home.

 Ongoing efforts

"I can’t believe my managers keep letting us do punk shows, (laughing) it’s really amazing. That being said, we’ve had no issues whatsoever, and everyone who’s come to our last few shows has been so respectful of our space," said Ian Boalt, Adult Services Librarian for Nevada County Library. "This is such a great thing for our community because the number of spaces for all-ages shows in Nevada County is limited. I dream of the library as a community space that’s constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. I think these punk shows are just that, and I’m so proud of our library for doing what we can."

This punk show is part of the library's ongoing effort to provide diverse and engaging events for the community. Look forward to more music at the library in the coming year.
