The holidays are upon us! But you may wonder what to do with your undecorated trees after the celebrations.
Below are the options for both Eastern and Western Nevada County. Please note these services are only available for real trees with all the lights and decorations removed (no artificial trees).
Western County –
Waste Management will provide the following options:
- Green Cart
- You can cut your tree to fit in your green cart; please ensure the lid shuts.
- Free Drop Off Thursday, Dec. 26 to Friday, Jan. 31
- Nevada County Government Center - 950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City
- Free Drop Off Saturday, Jan. 11 and Sunday, Jan. 12
- Lake Wildwood Water Treatment Plant - 12622 Pleasant Valley Road, Penn Valley
- Lake of the Pines Water Treatment Plant - 10803 Riata Way, Auburn
- Alta Sierra Fire Department - 11833 Tammy Way, Grass Valley
Eastern County –
Truckee Tahoe Sanitary District (TTSD) will provide the following options:
- Curbside Collection Jan. 6 to Jan. 10, 2025
- Curbside pickup will take place. Collection of Christmas trees will occur on the customer’s regularly scheduled trash service day. TTSD asks that customers remove all decorations, cut the tree into 3-foot sections, and place it curbside in a visible location for easy removal.
