Nevada County Tobacco Prevention is calling all youth to use your creativity to kick tobacco to the curb. Did you know that even with the strides that have been made in reducing tobacco use, tobacco use continues to be the #1 leading cause of preventable death in the United States? Our Tobacco Prevention Program, part of the Nevada County Public Health Department, is excited to sponsor this contest.
Contest Information
I'm the Tobacco-Free Generation is the theme for this year's Nevada County Tobacco Prevention Poster and Bookmark Contest. During the month of November all youth from grades 5th-12th grade are encouraged to enter their artwork. A total of six lucky winners will have their design printed and displayed across our county as posters or bookmarks. These will be distributed throughout Nevada County during the month of March 2019 in recognition of Kick Butts Day, a national day of activism that empowers youth to stand out, speak up and help create a Tobacco-Free Generation. Kids can enter in one of four categories:
- I'd Rather… Healthy alternatives to smoking
- I Care Because… How smoking affects friends and family
- I'm Not a Target… How the tobacco companies continue to market toward youth to hook another generation on tobacco products
- Not Just Water Vapor… What is really in vapes?
