The U.S. federal government shut down on Oct. 1 after Congress failed to resolve a budget deadlock. CalFresh benefits for October 2025 were issued as regularly scheduled during the 10-day period of October 1-10, 2025. However, if President Trump and Congress do not reopen the federal government by October 23, 2025, or take action to fund benefits, CalFresh benefits will likely be delayed in November 2025.
You can keep using your CalFresh benefits in October as usual. No action is required.
You can monitor your EBT balance to see if November benefits have loaded by calling the number on the back of your EBT card, or with the EBT Edge app.
