Vote Centers at the Eric Rood Administration Center, Providence Mine Rooms in Nevada City and at Truckee Town Hall, Prosser Room in Truckee are open 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily and 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on March 3rd, Election Day.
Starting Saturday, February 29th, Vote Centers at the Gold Miners Inn, Best Western, and Higgins Lions Community Center in Grass Valley; Penn Valley Fire Protection District Station 43 in Penn Valley; and Cedar House Hotel in Truckee. On March 3rd, Election Day, another Vote Center will open at the North San Juan Community Center.

Gold Country Stage Free Fare Election Day, March 3rdGold Country Stage is offering free fares on all routes in celebration of Election Day on March 3rd.
All rides are free on Tuesday, March 3rd. To cast your ballot, take Route 1 to the Vote Center at the Rood Center or take any route to the Vote Center at the Gold Miner's Inn in Grass Valley (right across the street from the Tinloy Transfer Center). Happy Election Day!

Coronavirus: Public Health Launches Call Center and Updated Website to Encourage Community PreparednessNevada County Public Health Department is working closely with County departments such as the Office of Emergency Services and Environmental Health, California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) to closely monitor the novel coronavirus and COVID-19 (the illness caused by the virus), which originated in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China in December 2019.This is an emerging, rapidly evolving situation and Nevada County Public Health will provide local, updated information as it becomes available at www.mynevadacounty.com/coronavirus.
To help keep the public informed, Public Health has activated Connecting Point's Call Center to answer community questions. Connecting Point can provide callers up-to-date information about novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and connect residents to other resources. Mark Your Calendar for Environmental Health Workshop SeriesNevada County Environmental Health Department is excited to host an Educational Workshop Series in 2020. The Workshops are designed to provide guidance to all local food facility operators and to members of the public that are interested in learning more about the function of the County's Environmental Health Department. Our goal is to introduce Environmental Health to the community and create a long-lasting community partnership
The Workshop Series kicks off on March 19, 2020 with "Retail Food Facility Operations in Nevada County – Q & A" at 5:00 p.m. at the Eric Rood Administrative Center and will be held in the Board of Supervisors Chambers. There will be a total of 4 Workshops for the 2020 Workshop Series throughout the year: Food Facility Operations, Retail Food and Special Events, Laws and Regulations, and Special Processes in Retail Food Operations.

Community Resources at the Grass Valley LibraryOn Thursday, March 5th, the Grass Valley Library-Royce Branch will be hosting representatives from Nevada County Adult Services and Calfresh from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The representatives will be at the library to answer questions including: What does Adult Services do? How can I avoid scams or fraud? And, how can I get help navigating some of life's hardships?
The program is part of an ongoing effort to connect the citizens of Nevada County to the resources they need or want. The Nevada County Community Library works to partner with various agencies in the area to ensure that its patrons are aware of all the information they need to be successful, whether that be in books or in person. All individuals are welcome to meet the representatives and gain further knowledge about Adult Services and Calfresh in Nevada County.

NCTC Receives National RecognitionThis “Noteworthy Practices” publication from the Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration gave national recognition to Nevada County Transportation Commission (NCTC). They highlighted NCTC for developing an effective and interactive Overall Work Program, the budget that describes regional transportation planning projects and how they are to be funded, calling it “an excellent example of both framework and content.” NCTC is proud to be a leader in transportation planning!

Two New Nevada County Landmarks Designated by SupervisorsThe Nevada County Historical Landmarks Commission is pleased to announce the designation of two new landmarks: John Woolman School and Kentucky Flat School.
The John Woolman School was a private Quaker boarding school which opened in 1963 is located on Woolman Lane in Nevada City. The sprawling 230 acre property was purchased in 1961 and housed the first Quaker boarding school in the western United States. Kentucky Flat School is located on Newtown Road in Nevada City, the Kentucky Flat School building was originally located at the Kentucky Ridge and Kentucky Flat Mining Camp on Bridgeport Road. Used as a school until 1963, it boasts a bell tower and bell that were used to alert the local residents to fires, special events, and the opening of school days.

The Public Works Engineering Division is looking for a high performing team member to serve as a Senior Civil Engineer for Nevada County. This individual will coordinate delivery of the County's Capital Improvement Projects, prepare plans and specifications for our Public Works infrastructure, which includes roadway and bridge improvement projects, along with land development coordination in Nevada County.
The ideal candidate must have construction management experience along with being registered in the State of California as a Professional Civil Engineer with a minimum of five years increased responsibility.
