Nevada County Honored with Four 2021 CSAC AwardsFour Nevada County programs have been honored with the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) 2021 Challenge and Merit Awards. CSAC’s annual statewide program honors innovation and best practices in county government.
Nevada County’s Internship Program received a Challenge Award, while the County’s Rapid Response Team, Budget Tools and Training Program, and Emergency Sheltering efforts all received Merit Awards. This year, CSAC received 433 entries – the most in the program’s history. County recipients showcased the amazing, creative and collaborative solutions being utilized across topics, such as the pandemic, homelessness, voter access, technical assistance, organic waste, employee wellness, cannabis, and more. An independent panel of judges with expertise in county programs selected the award recipients.

Nevada County Office of Emergency Services (OES) would like to take a moment to extend gratitude to the community. The recent atmospheric river, bomb-cyclone event of late October, which brought double-digit rainfall in just 3-days, elevated flooding concerns throughout the County. If you have an urgent issue such as a tree blocking a road, please report it to Public Works at 530-265-1411 during business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, and to Sheriff’s Dispatch at 530-265-1471 on weekends and after hours. Mental Health Services Act Plan Amendment Public Comment PeriodThe Nevada County Behavioral Health Department is inviting all stakeholders to review and comment on an Amendment to Nevada County’s Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Fiscal Year 2021/2022 Annual Plan Update for a period of 30 days from December 6, 2021 to January 6, 2022. The Mental Health Services Act, also known as Prop 63, is funded by a 1% tax on personal income over $1 million per year, and is designed to expand and transform California’s county mental health systems.
This amendment incorporates changes to the current Fiscal Year Plan due to higher than anticipated revenues in Fiscal Year 20/21. Priorities for funding were one-time investments and expansions that align with community needs and the existing Three-Year MHSA Plan.
