Brunswick Commons Completion Expected in Summer 2022On Monday, March 28th, County Supervisors, staff, and project partners toured Brunswick Commons prior to it's completion. Brunswick Commons is one of eight developments that have been in planning, active construction, or have been completed since 2017, adding a total of 301 new units of affordable housing to the county. The project is a partnership between Hospitality House, Regional Housing Authority, and the County of Nevada. Completion is expected to be soon, with occupancy for residents beginning in late June.
Brunswick Commons adds 41 units of housing for individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, with 12 permanent supportive housing units for individuals with a mental health disability. Permanent supportive housing is a much-needed aspect of housing for the community and provides supports for successful housing placement, such as case management and behavioral health supports. Units are slated for individuals on the by-name list; referrals for placements come from the Housing Resource Team, Behavioral Health, and Hospitality House. The project will expand options for getting housing-ready individuals from Hospitality House into permanent housing.

Nevada County Airport Hosts Grass Valley Charter SchoolOn Thursday, March 24th, Grass Valley Charter's homeschool program visited the Nevada County Airport to learn about aviation, airport services, and CAL FIRE NEU's Air Attack Base located onsite. Approximately 80 students from various grade levels learned about how aviation fits into Nevada County's commerce-transportation system and how aircraft works.
"It was a fun day at the Nevada County Airport that couldn't have been done without the amazing members of our local flying community," said Airport Manager Kevin Edwards. Two local flying clubs, Golden Empire Flying and EAA Chapter 1175, made the visit a success by sharing their passion for aviation. Pilots from the clubs had their airplanes on display and allowed students to sit in the planes and touch the controls. Fourteen different types of aircraft were on display. EAA Chapter 1175 promoted their National Young Eagle Program for youth ages 8-17, where they get the opportunity for a free flight with an EAA volunteer pilot. About the Nevada County Airport
