Truckee Police Department and Truckee Fire Protection District Urge Our Community to Sign Up for CodeRED Emergency Alert SystemTruckee Police Department and the Truckee Fire Protection District are switching from Nixle to the CodeRED Emergency Alert System as the primary method of communication during critical incidents. CodeRED is an opt-in notification system, and these alerts may be received as text, email, landline, cell phone, and TTY. By joining CodeRED, all residents will be on one platform with Nevada County creating continuity between our jurisdictions. Residents and visitors are encouraged to subscribe to CodeRED to stay informed in the event of an emergency. If you were a subscriber of Nixle, you will need to subscribe to CodeRED. Beginning June 1st all emergency alert communications will be sent via CodeRED.

Over 600 Attended the 2022 Health, Safety, and Wildfire Preparedness CarnivalLast Saturday, the Gold Country Kiwanis, Nevada County Office of Emergency Services, and Fire Safe Council of Nevada County put on the County’s annual Health, Safety, and Wildfire Preparedness Carnival. The 5-hour event in the Rood Center parking lot drew more than 600 children and parents! Everyone enjoyed the inflatable slide, Bubbles the Clown, free hotdogs and drinks, and the music of the ReWind live band.
The Carnival highlighted the incredible first responders, firefighters, law enforcement personnel, search and rescue volunteers, emergency medical service workers, and wildfire prevention efforts of the Nevada County community. More than 20 different agencies and non-profits participated in the community-wide event focusing on the health and safety of Nevada County families.

Nevada County Awarded Grant to Expand and Enhance Mobile Crisis ServicesNevada County Behavioral Health has been awarded $1,000,000 in grant funding through the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Crisis Care Mobile Units (CCMU) program. The grant was awarded with the goal of “implementing, enhancing, and supporting mobile crisis care services within the county through infrastructure development”. The grant funds will be used to further expand and enhance mobile crisis services in Nevada County.
The CCMU grant will specifically support: - Addition of a 1.0 FTE Youth Mobile Crisis Specialist to respond to youth experiencing a mental health crisis primarily at school sites and community-based organizations
- Addition of a 0.5 FTE Mobile Crisis Clinical Team Lead to provide clinical and administrative supervision of the Mobile Crisis Specialists
- Infrastructure to support mobile crisis services, including vehicles for mobile crisis staff, office space and office remodel led by Nevada County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement co-responder mobile crisis staff, laptops, monitors, cell phones, and training

Roundabout Grading Work Scheduled in Truckee Next Two Weeks
Caltrans is alerting State Route 89 south motorists to expect a lane reduction in the two-lane roundabout just north of Deerfield Drive for the next couple of weeks.
Maintenance crews, in coordination with the Town of Truckee, will be performing grading work in the roundabout to improve drainage and reduce water ponding. Work is scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 16th through Thursday, May 19th, and Monday, May 23rd through Thursday, May 26th. Maintenance crews may complete grading work earlier than anticipated.
