Wendy Brodnick is the County’s new Human Resources Director starting Tuesday, Dec. 2. She will oversee recruitment, compensation, labor and employee relations, development and learning programs, policies, benefits, and HR compliance.

“Wendy brings experience in developing talent both within organizations and across communities. Her public- and private-sector perspective will strengthen a department that supports every corner of our organization and advances our mission of serving the community,” said County Executive Officer Alison Lehman.

She holds a Bachelor of Science from Shippensburg University and a Master of Education from Temple University. Brodnick has earned her California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Human Resources Credential and is a graduate of the Talent Pipeline Academy. She is also an active member of the Public Sector HR Association (PSHRA) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

As a graduate of the Talent Pipeline Academy, Brodnick looks forward to expanding those collaborations. “I’m excited to strengthen partnerships that grow our local workforce. Nevada County’s culture of continuous improvement and innovation truly stands out, and I look forward to contributing to that momentum,” she said.

Brodnick has over 15 years of HR experience across government, corporate and consulting settings, most recently with Placer County, as well as experience in teaching both organization-wide trainings and university-level courses.

Brodnick lives in Eden Valley with her husband, Rob, and their two daughters. When she is not working, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and growing Japanese maples and houseplants.
