Marriage License Information

  • Pursuant to the following Code (Family Code 350 (a) and 500.5) Before entering a marriage, or declaring a marriage pursuant to Section 425, the parties shall first obtain a marriage license from a county clerk. (Family Code 500.5) For purposes of this part, the document issued by the county clerk is a marriage license until it is registered with the county clerk, at which time the license becomes a marriage certificate.
