Community Development News Posted on March 31, 2025

Nevada County Transit Services is excited to announce the introduction of Tap-to-Pay contactless fare payment systems on all Nevada County Connects buses, effective today, Monday, March 31.

The Tap-to-Pay system allows customers to pay for their bus ride using contactless-enabled Visa or Mastercard payments, including debit cards, credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and smartwatches. Paying for the bus is now as easy as paying for a coffee!

The Tap-to-Pay system has a separate fare structure from the regular cash fare structure with a $2 for 3-hour rate and $6 daily cap.

If you are a senior (65+), disabled (Medicare cardholder), or a veteran, please visit www.nevadacountyca.gov/TaptoPay to register for a discounted fare through Cal-ITP. Please note that the youth/student discount is currently unavailable but will be offered soon through the Tap-to-Pay registration system.
