Beginning Jan.1, 2026, the cost of certified copies of vital records in California will increase by $2 per certificate, following a statewide update by the California Department of Public Health under Assembly Bill 64.
The new fees will be:
- Birth certificates: $31 (currently $29)
- Death certificates: $26 (currently $24)
- Marriage certificates: $19 (currently $17)
Residents who plan to order certified copies of their vital records may wish to do so before the new fees take effect.
