Alex Keeble-Toll is the County’s new Office of Emergency Services director. She will oversee the County’s response to such events as wildfires, winter storms and extended power outages.
The 2024 Nevada County Employee of the Year, Keeble-Toll has been serving as interim Office of Emergency Services director since December and has worked with the department since 2022. She has a 95% success rate for grants submitted, securing more than $75 million in funding and was instrumental in the execution of several innovative emergency preparedness projects, including the Good Neighbor Agreement with the United States Forest Service, several large landscape fuel reduction projects and the community green waste disposal programs. She also helped execute the biomass pilot project that processed wood into biochar, a substance that improves soil health.
Prior to her time with the County, Keeble-Toll spent a decade in nonprofit leadership addressing ecosystem and community resiliency. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in sociology, master’s degree in sociology from California State University, Sacramento, and a master’s degree from California State University, Chico in environmental science. She was born and raised in Nevada County and loves spending time with her husband and two children running, hiking, and doing pretty much anything outdoors.
