Nevada County Roads crews recently completed maintenance on Old Highway 40 from the Placer County line to the Caltrans facility. Crews placed 560 tons of asphalt to repair and improve this stretch of roadway.
That section of the road had deteriorated due to age, large/heavy vehicle traffic, snow accumulation, snow removal operations, and icy weather conditions.
The remaining section of Old Highway 40 — from the Caltrans facility to Soda Springs Road — is scheduled for rehabilitation in 2027 as part of the County’s Overlay and Pavement Rehabilitation program.
