Mission Statement
The mission of the Transit Services Division of the Department of Public Works is to provide safe, convenient, reliable, and affordable fixed-route transit services and specialized paratransit services to the residents of Western Nevada County.
The Transit Services Division (Nevada County Connects)
Nevada County Connects provides local and regional fixed-route bus service to the Cities, towns, and unincorporated areas of Western Nevada County, including Nevada City, Grass Valley, Penn Valley, Rough and Ready, Lake Wildwood, Alta Sierra, Lake of the Pines, and the regional hub at the Auburn Amtrak station.
Transit Services began in 1975 when the County of Nevada entered into a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) between the cities of Grass Valley and Nevada City. The system began with only two routes serving Grass Valley and Nevada City. The system has subsequently grown over the years and now operates seven routes throughout Western Nevada County.

Days and Hours of Bus Service
Monday – Friday: 5:30 AM to 8:00 PM.
Saturday: LIMITED service on Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and Alta Sierra (AS) from 7:15 AM to 5:30 PM. The Saturday service schedules are shown separately on the route pages. Please check individual routes for specific time schedules. There is no Sunday service.
Service Holidays No service is provided on New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr.'s Day, Veteran’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, TBD County observed holidays as required.
