Lending Policies

  • Adult and Teen library cardholders with a current Nevada County library card in good standing may check out a hotspot. Hotspots are restricted for Youth, Limited and Educator card holders.
  • Loan period is 14 days. Hotspots are not renewable.
  • Patrons may only borrow one hotspot at a time. If a patron has a hotspot checked out, they may place a hold on a hotspot simultaneously to be in the queue.
  • Hotspots can connect to up to 10 devices at one time. It is best practice to check out one hotspot per household.
  • All borrowers must sign the Hotspot and Recreation Collection waiver in person at a Nevada County Library location in order to borrow a hotspot. Teens under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the Hotspot and Recreation Collection waiver.
  • Overdue hotspots will be disabled remotely. Patron accounts with an overdue hotspot will be charged for the $200 dollar replacement cost. Upon return of the device, the charge will be cleared. Accounts which have a history of overdue hotspots may temporarily lose hotspot borrowing privileges at the library's discretion.
