The Opportunity:
Economic development is fundamentally about creating a thriving community for all, and encompasses programs, policies, and activities that drive sustainable economic prosperity, social equity, and community well-being. Actions include:
- Attracting and retaining employers that offer living-wage jobs
- Supporting entrepreneurs
- Ensuring underserved communities have access to opportunity
- Ensuring the overall quality of life for all residents.
New Board-approved Economic Development Action Plan
The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved in March 2024 an economic development vision for the County with five goals:
- Align around a "grow-from-within" mindset to build a strong foundation.
- Concentrate business start-up, retention, recruitment, and expansion efforts in five specific sectors.
- Increase County economic development support and investment.
- Boost the visibility of the County and its assets.
- Add additional tools and information to support local business growth.
