Economic Development Action Plan

Our Mission:

We are committed to coordinated actions with our partners to build a resilient, diversified economy that leverages our unique cultural and natural resources, embraces innovation, entrepreneurship and small business, and maintains a high quality of life for all.

The Opportunity:

Economic development is fundamentally about creating a thriving community for all, and encompasses programs, policies, and activities that drive sustainable economic prosperity, social equity, and community well-being. Actions include:

  • Attracting and retaining employers that offer living-wage jobs
  • Supporting entrepreneurs
  • Ensuring underserved communities have access to opportunity
  • Ensuring the overall quality of life for all residents.

New Board-approved Economic Development Action Plan

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved in March 2024 an economic development vision for the County with five goals:

  1. Align around a "grow-from-within" mindset to build a strong foundation.
  2. Concentrate business start-up, retention, recruitment, and expansion efforts in five specific sectors.
  3. Increase County economic development support and investment.
  4. Boost the visibility of the County and its assets.
  5. Add additional tools and information to support local business growth.
