[ARCHIVED] Nevada County submits Readiness Plan to State to move further towards Stage 2 reopening

Coronavirus NewsFlash Template (12)

State is expected to give approval of Readiness Plan in 24-48 hours

Nevada County businesses are encouraged to start preparing for Stage 2 reopening

Today, Nevada County Public Health Officials received good news after a meeting with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Nevada County’s attestation of readiness to move further into Stage 2 reopening received a positive response from the State.

Next Steps in Stage 2 Reopening

Nevada County will be among the first counties in the State to receive approval of the attestation of readiness, or readiness plan, required by the State. After today’s meeting with CDPH and receiving Letters of Support from the Nevada County Board of Supervisors and local hospitals, the County’s readiness plan has been submitted and received by the State. The State has said that Nevada County will receive approval within 24 to 48 hours, and the second phase of Stage 2 businesses can reopen with modifications in place.

Nevada County is moving into Stage 2 reopening as safely and quickly as possible in alignment with State guidelines. Nevada County businesses are encouraged to prepare to safely reopen if they fit into the Stage 2 sectors in the California Recovery Plan. Reopening will not look like business as usual pre-COVID pandemic and businesses will need to follow the guidance from the State and County in order to protect their employees and customers. Nevada County residents and businesses can find guidance on Stage 2 reopening at covid19.ca.gov/roadmap and www.mynevadacounty.com/coronavirus/businesses. Although the State’s Stage 2 guidance lists schools as able to reopen, Nevada County schools do not anticipate reopening until August 2020.

As we move forward through Stage 2, Nevada County needs to continue practicing social distancing, good hygiene, wearing face coverings in public, minimizing going into public spaces, and educating friends, family and favorite businesses on the current recommendations.

We Are Here to Help

County staff will be out in the community tomorrow working with our Cities, Town and business associations to work with local businesses to prepare to open as quickly as possible upon State approval. Businesses with questions about modifying business practices to keep customers safe and slow the spread of COVID-19 can email COVID19recovery@co.nevada.ca.us.  General coronavirus questions can be directed to the Coronavirus Call Center at 1-833-DIAL211 or 211@connectingpoint.org.

Thank you for your patience as we plan for a safe transition towards opening some lower-risk businesses and onward to a sustainable recovery.
