The Public Health Department is proud to report that the NorCal AIDS cycle has awarded additional funds to support its HIV/Hep C Testing and Counseling Clinic, which has been funded fully by NorCal AIDS Cycle since the department started offering these free services. The clinic offers Rapid Testing for both HIV and Hepatitis C—that means clients receive confidential results in twenty minutes. The clinic also provides a venue for the Public Health's free Naloxone Distribution Program (naloxone can counter the effects of an opioid overdose). To date Public Health has received seven generous awards from NorCal AIDS Cycle, totaling $58,700 over the course of seven years.
In its 15th year, the NorCal AIDS Cycle is a 4-day road bike ride in which cyclists ride over the Golden Gate Bridge, and continue through Marin, Sonoma, Napa, and Yolo counties to raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. Public Health is extremely grateful for the funding and generosity NorCal AIDS Cycle has shown our community and for the cyclists' blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into the funds they have provided.
