Request a Modification
If there has been a change in circumstances, you can request a modification of your child support order. You can request a Review and Adjustment with our office or file your own motion with the court. For assistance with filing your own motion, visit the Nevada County Courthouse website at nevada.courts.ca.gov/self-help.
If you request a Review and Adjustment through our office, we will mail paperwork to you. Please complete the paperwork and either mail or drop off at our office within 20 business days. If your case qualifies for a modification, we will contact both parties to determine if there is agreement on the new rate. If you and the other parent agree, we do not need to go to court. Your caseworker will draft a Stipulation for both parties to sign. If both parents do not agree, a court hearing will be set.
