Medical Coverage

Medical Coverage is available for individuals and families through programs including Medi-Cal, Medicare Premium Payment assistance, and the County Medical Services Program (CMSP).

Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program. This is a public health insurance program which provides needed health care services for individuals, families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, foster care, pregnant women, and persons with specific illnesses such as tuberculosis, breast cancer or HIV/AIDS. Medi-Cal is financed equally by the State and Federal government.

Medicare Premium Payment Programs

Medicare is our country's health insurance program for people age 65 or older. Certain people younger than age 65 can qualify for Medicare, too, including those with disabilities and those who have permanent kidney failure.
If you receive Medicare and are also receiving no cost Medi-Cal benefits, the state will automatically pay for your Medicare part B premium. This will help to put those funds back into your own pocket. If you are receiving Medicare, but are not receiving no cost Medi-Cal, there are several Medicare Premium Payment Programs (MPPP) that you may qualify for to help you pay for your Medicare part A and B premiums and other costs.

County Medical Services Program (CMSP)

County Medical Services Program (CMSP) is Nevada County's public health insurance program which provides health care services for adults not eligible for Medi-Cal.
County Medical Services Program (CMSP)
Adults must meet income and asset tests to access the program. CMSP is financed by the County government in cooperation with other smaller, rural counties.
