In December 2020, the County adopted a resolution amending its Road Standards (Section L-XVII 3.4J of Chapter XVII of the Land Use and Development Code). The amendment provides standards forconstruction of telecommunication infrastructure (conduit) and outlines the process to include such construction in capital improvement projects and in construction related to any road work in Nevada County (public and private roads, but not driveways). These changes include guidance for exceptions to the proposed standards if funding is not available for the improvements and/or trenching is not advisable at a specific location.
This amendment is exempt from California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15307 and 15308, which exempt actions taken by regulatory agencies for protection of natural resources and the environment.
