Winter storm update:

  • WM drivers will be servicing customers Saturday who were missed Thursday. 
  • The McCourtney Road Transfer Station is open.
  • North San Juan Transfer Station will be open (tentative).
  • Washington Transfer Station is closed. This facility will be open tentatively Monday, Feb. 23.
  • Loma Rica recycle yard is closed. This facility will be open Monday, Feb. 23.

The Solid Waste Division of Public Works Department oversees garbage disposal, recycling services, and transfer station operations throughout Nevada County. The Division also oversees the maintenance of the closed landfills.

Please keep in mind that the transfer station is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The busiest traffic days at the transfer station are typically Wednesdays and Sundays.  This webcam refreshes every 10 minutes for the most up-to-date picture. Waste amounts from Nevada County

Nevada County recycling stats for December 2024-November 2025 include: 8,356 tons of recyclables (bottles, cans, paper, cardboard);18,042 tons of green and food waste (includes food-soiled paper, i.e., paper towels, coffee filters and pizza boxes); 3,118 mattresses; 6,798 appliances; 43.53% is average of waste recycled and not dumped in landfill; 67 tons of tires; 25,090 average monthly curbside residential customers; and 134,171 customers visited McCourtney Road Transfer Station.
