Household Hazardous Waste

You may not realize that common household products are hazardous. When cleaning your home, making home improvements, or fixing your car, you may generate waste that can be potentially harmful to you, your family and the environment. 

Never dispose of household hazardous waste in the trash. 

Any product labeled warning, caution, poisonous, toxic, flammable, or corrosive is considered a hazardous substance. Disposing of these chemical improperly can threaten our environment by polluting the air, water and soil. It can also be dangerous for landfill operators as it can cause serious injury. 

It is illegal to dispose of household hazardous waste in the trash, down the drain or by abandonment. Chemicals, used oil, batteries and paint are examples of household hazardous waste

Drop off household hazardous waste in spill- and leak-proof containers in their original containers:
