The Nevada County Recreation Coalition is a dynamic network of local parks, recreation providers, public land managers, community health and safety professionals, non-profits, and agencies at the local, regional, state, and federal levels. Together, we are advancing the vision set forth in the Nevada County Recreation and Resiliency Master Plan—a comprehensive strategy designed to enhance and expand recreation opportunities for residents and visitors alike.

A Collective Approach to Recreation

The Master Plan outlines eight key focus areas and over 100 projects, enhancements, and programs identified through extensive community and stakeholder input. These initiatives require collaboration across diverse industries—including agriculture, forestry, tourism, retail, entertainment, and more—to ensure Nevada County remains a premier destination for outdoor recreation and community well-being.

What began as a group of stakeholders contributing to the Master Plan has evolved into the Nevada County Recreation Coalition—a collective of public and private recreation providers, park districts, and organizations dedicated to turning vision into action. Our efforts are guided by four key focus areas:

• Community and Regional Park System
• Recreation Outposts
• Sustainable Recreation and Communication
• Recreation and Resiliency Hub Network

Driving Progress Through Collaboration

Facilitated by Nevada County, the Coalition works collaboratively to prioritize projects, leverage resources, and secure funding under the leadership of execution teams identified in the Master Plan. By uniting our efforts, we strengthen recreation opportunities that promote health, sustainability, and community resilience.

Stay Connected & Get Involved

The Coalition publishes a quarterly newsletter to keep the community informed about upcoming projects, funding opportunities, and success stories. We also host the annual Recreation Fair—a signature event that showcases local parks, outdoor adventures, recreation centers, and organized programs for all ages. The fair highlights the importance of resilience and stewardship, encouraging residents to engage in activities that build physical and mental strength while fostering sustainable practices to protect Nevada County’s natural spaces.
