Volunteer at the Library
Applying
Nevada County Library is currently accepting volunteer applications for youth under the age of 18. Please check with your local library for volunteer opportunities before completing an application. Use the Volunteer Application form with this link or request a paper application.
The Nevada County Library is not accepting adult volunteer applications at this time as the program is at capacity. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Nevada County Library!
General Volunteer Responsibilities
Library volunteers do a variety of jobs that help keep the library running smoothly! Many volunteers assist with shelving in the adult, teen and children's areas. Volunteers with particular skillsets may assist in the Collaborative Technology Center with one-on-one tech help for our patrons or presenting workshops on particular topics. Teen volunteers may help with programming or outreach activities. We offer a variety of options to volunteer with Nevada County Library.
Volunteer at the Foley
If you are interested in volunteering for the Doris Foley Library for Historical Research please contact the branch directly at 530-265-4606.
Adult Literacy & ESL Volunteers
Work directly with adult learners or English language learners to help with reading, writing and comprehension. Learn more or apply to become a volunteer with Nevada County Library's Adult Literacy and ESL program.
Fingerprinting
Please note, all volunteers over the age of 18 are required to be fingerprinted prior to volunteering at a Nevada County Library. The County will cover the cost of fingerprinting and therefore we ask for at least a six month commitment.
Interviews
The library branch volunteer coordinator will contact you to schedule an interview after they receive an application. Once the application is approved the applicant will be contacted to schedule fingerprinting.
