Clerk-Recorder, Registrar of Voters Natalie Adona signs her Oath of Office

Today, seven Nevada County elected officials were sworn into office, including District 3 and District 4 Supervisor, Sheriff, District Attorney, Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters, Assessor, and Treasurer/Tax-Collector.

Speaking to a standing-room-only crowd in the Board Chambers, Board Chair and District 4 Supervisor Sue Hoek deemed 2023 the “Year of the Heart.”

“May we have the courage to reach out with kindness, compassion, and integrity. May the fruits of our labor yield gratitude and generosity. Let’s live on that for 2023,” Hoek said.

Sue Hoek, District 4 Supervisor

Sue Hoek was sworn in for her second term as District 4 Supervisor, representing the communities of Lake Wildwood, North San Juan, Penn Valley, Rough and Ready, Spenceville, unincorporated areas along Highway 20, south down to the Perimeter Road area, and the McCourtney Road / Retrac Way area.

“I would not be standing here today without the support of my friends and family,” said Swarthout. “I concur with Supervisor Hoek. Let’s make this the year of the heart. I collect hearts and I’m going to bring my collection to my office to remind me that every decision I make needs to come from the head and the heart.”

District 3 includes the Brunswick Basin, Cedar Ridge, the City of Grass Valley, Squirrel Creek, and the La Barr Meadows / Allison Ranch Road neighborhoods.
