When to notify Nevada County Public Health Department:
Notify Nevada County Public Health Department (NCPHD) if your school or child care program has identified three or more cases of influenza, COVID-19, or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in a cohort (class, team, lunch group, etc.) within a 7-day period.
To report suspected or confirmed outbreaks to Nevada County Public Health Department call 530-265-1450 or use the SPOT intake Form (COVID-19 only). After you submit the SPOT intake Form, NCPHD will review your information and contact you if additional information is required.
How to mitigate the spread of respiratory viruses:
For additional guidance on the management of infected and exposed people in K–12 school and child care settings, see the Guidance for K-12 Schools and Child Care Settings to Mitigate the Spread of Communicable Disease (CDPH).
For more information email CDInfo@nevadacountyca.gov
Vaccination
Staying up to date with all recommended immunizations is an important step that providers, teachers, staff, children, and individuals sharing homes with members of our child care communities can take to protect themselves and others from respiratory viruses. For more information go to Immunizations for Respiratory Viruses Prevention (CDC), make an appointment online (myturn.gov) or call 1-833-422-4255.
Face Coverings/Masks
Masking is still an important tool for preventing the spread of respiratory viruses. Go to When and Why to Wear a Mask (CDPH) for more information.
Additional Resources
Disease reporting requirements: Under Title 17, California Code of Regulations §2508, schools and childcare providers are required to report individual cases of Title 17 diseases (for example, measles, pertussis) and outbreaks.
