Environmental Health

Our department is responsible for programs focused on environmental protection and public health in Nevada County. These programs regulate food preparation in restaurants, installation of wells and septic systems, handling hazardous materials, and other topics related to consumer protection.

The Department provides the following services:

• New project submittals and walk-in appointments are accepted from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
• The lobby is open on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• If you have questions or want to make an appointment, please email the Environmental Health Department or call (530) 265-1222, Option 3.
• Online by using our Citizen Access Portal to apply for Land Use permits. All other submittals involving Consumer Protection and Hazardous Materials can be emailed to the Environmental Health Department.
