Complaint and Grievance Process

Individuals are encouraged to discuss issues regarding their mental health services directly with their provider. Every effort will be made to resolve the issue at an informal level. They may also contact the Patient’s Rights Advocate at (530) 470-2722 or Toll Free for long distance 1-888-801-1437. Individuals are provided with information on the grievance and appeal process at the time of registration for services.
Individuals may file a grievance regarding unhappiness with the provision of mental health services by notifying the Patient’s Rights Advocate, or completing a written Intent to File a Grievance Form (Intento español de presentar un reclamo). Individuals may file an Appeal requesting a review of an action taken by their provider when services are denied, reduced or terminated by completing the Intent to File an Appeal Form (Intento español de presentar una apelación).

The Patients Rights Advocate is available for consumers and families, to help resolve issues; and respond to grievances and complaints about mental health services.

Behavioral Health wants to hear client and family input, if you or your child is a consumer of the Nevada County Behavioral Health System there are several options for you to get involved.
Quality Improvement Committee
Nevada County Behavioral Health welcomes client and family input in our quality improvement efforts. For information on how to participate in our quality improvement committee, please contact Behavioral.Health@nevadacountyca.gov and put QIC in the subject line.
Consumer Advisory Council
Nevada County is excited to announce the development of a Consumer Advisory Council (CAC). The CAC will provide input on process and program improvements, inform policy and program development, provide feedback to NCBH management on various topics and programs, and identify strategies for supporting and enhancing peer specialist employment.
