The California Strategic Growth Council’s (SGC) Community Resilience Centers Program (CRC) funds neighborhood-level resilience centers to provide shelter and resources during climate and other emergencies, as well as year-round services and programming that strengthen community connections and ability to withstand disasters. Project Scope
The project involves a combination of capital improvements and programming at the existing Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Building. These improvements aim to enhance overall community resilience by providing shelter and resources during extreme weather events and emergencies, expanding community programming, and supporting health, emergency preparedness, and financial well-being for all residents.
Project Timeline
The grant term, which started April 25, 2025, consists of a four (4) year project completion followed by a performance period of up to one (1) year.

Partners
Nevada County is partnering with FREED Center for Independent Living (in collaboration with Aging and Disability Resource Connection of Nevada County), Gold Country Senior Services, and Interfaith Food Ministry to deliver grant funded programming to the community.
